Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of “2021 Provincial-level Technology Innovation Centers.” A total of 195 new technology innovation centers were established across the province, and the “Microchannel Continuous Pharmaceutical Technology Innovation Center” of Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., part of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was included on the list of newly established provincial-level technology innovation centers.
According to the introduction, provincial-level technology innovation centers primarily engage in the research and development of common and critical technologies as well as the integration of advanced technologies, providing mature, complementary technologies, standards, processes, equipment, and new products for industrialization. These centers offer open services, conduct technical consultations and training, and promote the dissemination of technologies and the transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. They also attract and cultivate high-level professional and technical personnel, strengthen collaborative innovation, and foster domestic and international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges. In accordance with the "Administrative Measures for the Construction and Operation of Technology Innovation Centers in Hebei Province," the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology will regularly conduct comprehensive performance evaluations of the overall operational status of technology innovation centers, assigning performance evaluation results to one of four categories: excellent, good, qualified, or unqualified. Those centers receiving excellent, good, or qualified performance ratings will be provided with differentiated financial post-subsidy support accordingly.
Microchannel continuous synthesis of pharmaceuticals leverages continuous-flow microreactor technology, utilizing localized vortex collisions formed through diffusion and structural design to alter fluid flow characteristics, thereby increasing heat and mass transfer rates by one to two orders of magnitude. This enhances reaction efficiency, shortens the R&D cycle, and enables green and safe production in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
The Hebei Province Microchannel Continuous Pharmaceutical Technology Innovation Center, through the development of microchannel continuous pharmaceutical technology, conducts research and development on the design and integration of microchannel continuous reactors tailored to various pharmaceutical processes. It also develops microchannel reaction synthesis processes for a series of high-value-added products, and undertakes intelligent and automated technological development and design for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The center tackles key technological challenges in drug synthesis, strengthens the transformation and application of new technologies, new products, and new equipment, and fundamentally enhances the safety of pharmaceutical production processes. This initiative drives pharmaceutical and chemical enterprises to achieve a comprehensive upgrade of their process technologies, promotes rapid growth in economic benefits, narrows the technological gap with large international companies, and boosts international competitiveness.
